A course focusing on advanced topics including IP addressing techniques, intermediate routing protocols, CL1 configuration of switches, Ethernet switching, VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol, and VLAN Trunking Protocol. Documentation requirements and techniques are discussed as well as troubleshooting within a multiprotocol networking environment. Lab Required. Prerequisite: CNET 185.

This course focuses on advanced IP addressing techniques (Network Address Translation [NAT], Port Address Translation [PAT], and DHCP), WAN technology and terminology, PPP, ISDN, DDR, Frame Relay, Network Management and Introduction to Optical Networking. In addition, the student will prepare for the CCNA exam. Security concepts including firewalls and encryption are considered, and detailed emphasis on the application of voice, data, and video convergence concepts are covered in this course. Lab required. It provides students with the knowledge and skills to successfully plan, implement, and troubleshoot a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory service infrastructure. The course focuses on a Windows Server 2003 directory service environment, including forest and domain structure, Domain Name System (DNS), site topology and replication, organizational unit structure and delegation of administration, Group Policy, and user, group and computer account strategies. Lab required. Prerequisite: CNET 232 or consent of instructor.
