It will focus on diverse popultions with an emphasis on rural settings. Influences of race, culture, gender, and sexual orientations will be focused on with emphasis on African American client systems, thus enhancing students' effectiveness in the differential applicaiton of the various theoretical models of intervention. These courses are designed to provide graduate students an opportunity to apply content from both the professional foundation and the direct practice curricula. The purpose is to prepare students with advanced analytical and practice skills for work in agencies responsible for individuals, and small gorups as autonomous direct service practitioners. Students are provided the opportunity to apply direct practice skills in an agency setting under the supervision of an experienced social work practitioner for a minimum of two days a week, eight hours a day for not less than 240 clock hours each semester.
