    The purpose of this course to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and procedures to ealuate their own practice. The emphasis is on single-subject designs which illustrate the integration of evaluation and practice to ensure accountability. Focus is also on the role and use of records in research, influences of legal, ethical, racial and gender issues in social work research will be highlighted.

    This course is designed to teach students the methods of direct practice within the Generalist framework of social work practice. It will focus on diverse popultions with an emphasis on rural settings. Influences of race, culture, gender, and sexual orientations will be focused on with emphasis on African American client systems, thus enhancing students' effectiveness in the differential applicaiton of the various theoretical models of intervention. Content on social work values and ethics will be integrated throughout the course with emphasis on legal and research issues in direct social work practice.

    These courses are designed to provide graduate students an opportunity to apply content from both the professional foundation and the direct practice curricula. The purpose is to prepare students with advanced analytical and practice skills for work in agencies responsible for individuals, and small gorups as autonomous direct service practitioners. Students are provided the opportunity to apply direct practice skills in an agency setting under the supervision of an experienced social work practitioner for a minimum of two days a week, eight hours a day for not less than 240 clock hours each semester.

    This course is the third in the human behavior in the social environment sequence. While the ecological systems, and the biopsychosocial perspective are referenced constantly in SWK 501 and SWK 521 (Human behavior I and II), this course will focus on the impact of life in rural settings on diverse populations. Issues of race, gender, sexual orientation and populations-at-risk will be emphasized in the context of environmental obstacles and opportunities encountered by systems of different sizes .

    This course addresses the elements of effective case management:client identificaiton, assessment of need, service planning, service coordination and linking, monitoring and evaluation. Techniques of case management and guidelines for developing case management systems for specific populations are included.

    In this course, students will gain knowledge of how social policy differentially affect African Americans and other racial/ehtnic gorups, as well as women, gays and Lesbians. Armed with this knowledge, students will be able to effectively intervene at various systems level to work toward achieving social and economic justice for these groups.

    This course is designed to teach students advanced assessment, planning, contracting, and intervention knowledge and skills. Content on physical and mental disorders, help-seeking behaviors of populations-at-risk, psychopharmacology, research, ethics and values in direct practice will be covered. The major focus will be on interventions that integrate individuals and families to community-centered practice. African Americans and rural populations will be highlighted.
