SCI 531 is a graduate level course designed primarily for secondary math and science teachers in which the student can register for 3 or 6 credit hours. The course combines content, methods and the actual application of a "hands on" approach in a laboratory setting in order to facilitate an inquiry-based learning environment. An integrated approach is utilized in the areas of biology, chemistry, and physics. The teach-taught course has an underlying mathematical theme throughout each laboratory experience.

This course deals with the properties and laws that govern the physical world around us. The topics covered will include the laws governing moving objects, sounds and light, electricity and magnetism, gravity, atomic structure, energy and work.

This course is a continuation of Physical Science B97. In this course the pupil will investigate and understand the physical and chemical characteristics of the Earth, its geological history, its solar system and planetary behavior, its atmosphere, its natural resources, and communication technology.

Introduces students to the various academic disciplines that comprise the social sciences and focuses not only on the trends and patterns of human behavior, but how to predict their occurrence. The course also seeks to acquaint students with how societies organize and create institutions; how societies are interrelated; and how they address complex issues such as illiteracy, nuclear proliferation, limited energy sources, starvation, etc. The course examines the use of economic, political, and social power.

Introduces and surveys the study of human life and behavior in past and present societies throughout the world. Emphasis will be placed upon theoretical approaches and problems of cultural change. The application of anthropology to practical concerns will be made.
