Companion course to criminology. Emphasizes actual criminal behaviors as opposed to the theoretical approaches explaining criminal behavior utilized in criminology. The approach taken is heavily based on psychology. The behavioral, emotional and cogntive aspects of crime are examinied from the perspective of both the offender and the victim.

Presents legal issues that arise in the course of the corrective process. Personal rights of those detained as well as acess to the court are discused. The course also examines physical conditions of confinement as well a appropriate methods in maintaining control of a facility. Material is also included dealing with legal issues that can arise while under supervision in a community-type correctional situation such as probation or parole.
