(3) This course provides a basic introduction to the art and science of cartography, the making and study of maps in all of their aspects. Students will work with internet-available software, imaging and visualization equipment in a series of independent exercises, culminating in a final exam with an emphasis on application of skills learned. Emphasis is directed toward those cartographic skills and principles which will be applicable across a wide range of technologies and map-making media. This class is not for BS/BA majors in the Geosciences.
