Co-requisite: RT152, 153 (Television On-Air Performance Critique I, II). Students have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of live televsion news production. Students will staff two live newscasts per week on the college cable televsion station filling all positions for the production, both in front of and behind the camera. Television majors should take these courses in the freshman year of their two-year degree program. Over that period the student will be required to participate in all areas of news production. (Offered every semester)

Prerequisite: RT102 (Introduction to Broadcast Journalism). This class offers students the opportunity to apply the theory and skills they learned during the introductory course in a more project oriented environment. Under the guidance of the instructor the student will complete news writing projects assigned by the television news department. The student will face a wider range of news gathering challenges including the live interview techniques, long-form feature production and investigative reporting. (Offered every semester)

Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor, Arts and Industry Chair, and aDean of Instruction, along with a signed contract. The radio department, in cooperation with its students, coordinates an internship with an industry radio station. Students learn and gain the initial experience in a commercial environment. This class is designed for second-year students. (Offered every semester)

Students learn staffing procedures, managerial techniques and facility operations of the student-operated radio station. On-air times are scheduled during this class. This course is designed to provide sophomore radio students the opportunity to write and produce radio commercials in digital studios. Advanced computer production techniques are demonstrated and practiced by studetns. Donator acknowledgments sold by the sales and marketing students are written and produced in this class then aird on the KTCC radio station. This is a practical course essential to any individual seeking a career in radio broadcasting. (Offered fall semester)

The techniques and principles of advertising sales are discussed and practiced in the classroom. Broadcasting sales professionals periodically lecture to relate their experience. Students develop sales packages for KTCC-FM and apply sales techniques through solicitation of local businesses. Students also learn promotional strategies for marketing a radio/televsion station. (Offered fall semester)
