Is designed to enhance strategies to effectively deal with people (including oneself), motivational problems, physical problems, family-related problems, work groups, problems originating in company policies and higher level decisions, and problems growing out of the work context and the work itself. Is designed to help people explore their interests, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes and relate them to the world of work. The class participants will learn techniques for exploring the world of work on the Internet and develop an academic plan which reflects their career decision.

Enhances the academic background of the student with a curriculum related on-the-job work experience. These internships may be completed by working while attending school, by working off campus for a semester (alternate coop), or by working during the summer. College personnel will assist in matching employers and students in this program which is committed to the growth of the student. Cooperative Education is a valued partnership between employers, students, and educators.

Is to make the student aware of the skills needed for entry into the competitive world of work. It will provide valuable insight into one's strengths and weaknesses while providing practice in preparing resume's, cover letters and standard application forms. In addition, the student will learn techniques for presenting himself/herself in a confident, professional manner at the employment interview and how to appropriately respond to a wide range of possible questions at that interview.

Through a variety of learning activities focused on improving reading and writing skills, students will improve their vocabulary and use of English structure. Students must score at least 400 on the TOEFL to enroll in this class. Upon completion of the course, students should be ready to enroll in CM072 English as Second Language II or CM101 Composition I.

The second part of a two-semester developmental sequence in ESL instruction, this course provides a variety of learning activities to improve reading and vocabulary skills through writing activities. Students must score at least 530 on the TOEFL to enroll in this class. Depending on the rate of language learning, students should be ready for CM101 English Composition I for the next semester.

This course prepares students to be peer tutors. The students will learn how to adjust to different learning styles, incorporate brain-based learning, and apply study strategies to specific courses.

This course provides instruction in study skills through critical thinking activities. The course emphasizes study strategies that will improve time management, note-taking, testtaking, reading, and critical thinking. Learning styles, college resources, teamwork, and discussion skills are incorporated so students use these to improve classroom performance.

Note-taking is one of the most important skills a student needs in college. Techniques for taking notes in lectures and study-reading are practiced. Audio tapes using content and general interest material are used to practice the new skills.

Test-taking strategies begin with learning styles, note-taking skills, time management, and memory and concentration. Skills in answering true-false, multiple choice, matching, sentence completion, and essay questions are developed.
