Special attention to the forces which drive innovation, including: creative minds, ethical dilemmas, political constructs, technology, and globalization. Students manage an endowment fund by determining how the funds are invested. Study of techniques for analyzing a variety of investment opportunities. May repeat for a maximum of one course credit. P/D/F only. Prerequisite: instructor approval.

Functions of advertising and promotion in business. Consumer motivations, advertising effectiveness, media selection, research, advertisement regulation. Group project. Prerequisite: BA 353 or instructor approval.

Management and marketing strategies needed to deliver goods and services to consumers. Types of retail institutions, customer needs, research methods, hiring and training of employees, store location and layout, pricing strategies, merchandise planning, handling, management. Impact of e-commerce on traditional retailing. Visits to retailers are an integral part of the course. Fee. Prerequisite: BA 353.

Survey of operating practices and models in manufacturing and service-oriented firms. Introduction to operational issues, including quality control. designing, acquiring, operating, and maintaining inventories, facilities, processes. Prerequisites: MA 107 or MA 250; MA 214 or MA 313.
