Prerequisite: An approved Area D lab science course This course is designed for nursing and other allied health persons and is intended to introduce the student to the basic concepts and practices of microbiology, especially with regard to health and human disease. Lecture portions of the course will address the basic biology of microorganisms, pathogenic mechanisms, host defense and immunity, and microorganisms and human diseases. This course is not intended for biology or other laboratory science majors and cannot be used for credit toward those degrees. Must be taken with BIOL 2030L.
