The purpose of this course is to provide an intuitive and computational orientation to the typical statistics that social science professionals encounter. This course presents the foundations of descriptive and inferential statistics, with a concentration on those specific procedures likely to be utilized by practicing social scientists (e.g., causal models), and a brief overview of multivariate techniques likely to be found in social science publications and research reports. Students will acquire skills for performing both elementary and advanced (computerized) statistical analysis, as well as interpreting and presenting statistical results.
