The disease processes and the treatment planning philosophy will be discussed, as well as the relationship of these concepts to clinical simulation and treatment planning procedures. Recognition of human anatomy in three and four dimensions, dose tolerances of critical structures and prior knowledge of radiation equipment will be utilized. Methods of manual and computerized dose calculation will be introduced.
