    Fall This course is designed to provide the student with basic sight singing and listening skills. Some lab time will be devoted to internet music resources and notation using FINALE. Other topics will include basic MAC computer skills especially as they pertain to music theory and CAI in music theory and ear training. Must be taken with MUSI 1101. Prerequisite: MUSI 1100 or passing score on Theory Placement Exam

    Spring Score preparation, performance, and recording of works created by the student. This is a seminar class; therefore, peer evaluation and commentary is part of the classroom experience. At least one work must be offered in the recital given by the composition class at the end of the term. Prerequisite: MUSI 1102 and MUSI 1113

    Fall Continuation of MUSI 1102. This course is designed to provide the student with more advanced knowledge of music theory, including: basic reductive and hierarchic graphing techniques, chromatic harmony, modulations, form (binary, ternary, and variations), advanced voice leading, and advanced part writing. Some lab time will be devoted to internet music resources and notation using FINALE. Other topics will include basic MAC computer skills, especially as they pertain to music theory and CAI in music theory. Must be taken with MUSI 2213. Prerequisite: MUSI 1102 and MUSI 1114

    Spring Continuation of MUSI 2201. This course is designed to provide the student with more advanced knowledge of music theory, including: reductive and hierarchic graphing techniques, advanced chromatic harmony, modulations, sonata and rondo form, advanced voice leading, advanced part writing, and introductory 20th century compositional techniques. Some lab time will be devoted to internet music resources and notation using FINALE. Other topics will include basic MAC computer skills, especially as they pertain to music theory and CAI in music theory. Must be taken with MUSI 2214. Prerequisite: MUSI 2201 and 2213

    Spring Continuation of MUSI 1104 with emphasis on transposition and chord accompaniment. Upon completion of this course, the student should be prepared for the Piano Proficiency Exam. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: MUSI 1104
