Student will be presented with models of Rationale Emotive Behavior Therapy(REBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. The course will also examine therapeutic strategies, and the process of counseling. Course provides a base from which the student can build an understanding of the practice of REBT, Solution Focus Therapy and Motivational Interviewing in community mental health and school counseling settings. The course will also discuss multicultural and ethical issues in practicing short term counseling strategies in working with addictive populations.
