This course is required of all students who have failed the essay portion of the Regents' Test. Each students' writing is evaluated in light of the specific requirements of the test and the individual work is assigned based on this evaluation. Intensive practice is given in writing, editing, and proofreading under strictly timed conditions. Institutional Credit Only.

This course assists students in enhancing critical thinking, reading comprehension and test-taking skills. A textbook, interactive computer-assisted tutorials, and in-class practice tests are used to develop comprehension skills. The course emphasizes strategic reading skills necessary for successful completion of the Regents' Reading Exam. All students who have earned 45 or more semester hours of degree credit and who have not passed the reading portion of the Regents' Test are required to take this course each semester they are enrolled until they pass that portion of the test.
