This course is designed to provide the student with an opportunity to learn about a specific health care field or gain knowledge about specific patient or client populations through direct observation and/or hands-on assistance. Credits: 3; Prereq: majors only. This course addresses behavioral styles contributing to leadership effectiveness. Students study specific styles for their contributions to motivating people and overall leadership effectiveness in health care.

Credits: 3; Prereq: HH-HEB majors, senior standing; HSC 3032 with a grade of C or better; completion of 15 credits of HSC prefix coursework from the Department of Health Education and Behavior. Fundamental strategies for health science education including conceptualizing instruction, specifying instructional objectives, planning units and lessons, using various instructional methods, selecting and using instructional materials, and evaluating the effectiveness of health instruction in school and community settings.

Credits: 3; Prereq: junior or senior standing and a state driver's license. Analysis of driver and traffic safety problems; training for efficient motor vehicle operation through experience with simulators, dual control cars and multiple car driving range.

Credits: 3; Prereq or Coreq: HSC 4450. Organization, administration, and teaching techniques of driver education for public high schools, including student teaching.

Credits: 3; Prereq: HSC 3502, HSA 3111; majors/minors only. Issues in disability management, including occupational health, impact of disability, treatment strategies, general rehabilitation process, ADA, worker's compensation and assistive technology.

Credits: 3; Prereq: HH-HEB majors, junor or senior standing; HSC 3032 with a grade of C or better; non-majors must have junior or senior standing. This seminar course will examine the medical, social, legal and educational implication of HIV/AIDS on individuals and society. The course format will include lectures, guest and student presentations, videos, and student-initiated discussions. The lectures will be provided by local, state, and national experts in the fields of medicine, epidemiology, law, education, and health promotion.

Credits: 4; Prereq: HSA 3111, HSC 3502 and HSC 3661, majors only. Assists students in the development of critical thinking skills in solving problems, in the health care environment.

Credits: 3; Prereq: HH-HEB majors, junor or senior standing; HSC 3032 with a grade of C or better. Non majors must have junior, senior standing. An overview of problems and practices in international health including disease patterns and prevalence, contributing factors, organizational and governmental initiatives, and model programs, with special emphasis on problems amenable to health education interventions.
