Description:
This course, working from the theories and principles of oral communication, will provide an understanding of the features of good oral communication and of various speech formats, along with a practice in various speaking situations. This class will introduce students to basic theories of oral communication and aspects of good speech, will provide students with techniques of invention, persuasion, and interpersonal communication, offer opportunity for practice in at least four modes of communication (interpersonal, interview, informative, and persuasive speaking) and help the student acquire greater ease and confidence in public speaking. The course includes theory as well as practice.
