This is an overview course introducing many topics that will be examined in depth in future, more specialized courses for middle and secondary education. Course objectives and performance assessments reflect the ten standards for beginning teachers' licensing and development produced by the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium. Also, there will be a focus on the National Middle School Standards as well as the Pennsylvania Department of Education state standards for both middle and secondary schools. Students will begin preparing for the Praxis I exam and will also complete 40 hours of field experience/observations.
