CHM 150 - General Chemistry I Lecture

Institution:
Westmoreland County Community College
Subject:
Chemistry
Description:
CHM 150 is the first semester of a two-semester general chemistry lecture course that introduces the student to the study of chemistry, focusing on the relationship between the microscopic structure of matter and the chemical and physical properties of matter, including applications to the real world. CHM 150 studies the concepts of atomic structure, chemical periodicity, bonding, naming of molecules and ionic compounds and principles of chemical reactivity. Measurements and problem solving, stoichiometry, solution chemistry, gas laws, thermodynamics and quantum chemistry are presented using a quantitative approach. Conceptual understanding of gasses, the structure of solids and liquids and chemical periodicity are also studied. Course
