Students will study a range of African Literature in English, exploring distinctive features of several African regions. Focusing mainly on fiction genre (novels, short stories, drama) and poetry, the instructor may also use some non-fiction, including memoir, critical essays, and contextual documents. As part of their study, students will analyze these texts within their cultural and historical contexts. The course will primarily focus on literture written in the modern period (1700-present).
