This course is for students who are interested in nursing as a profession. The course will introduce the nursing profession and immerse students in activities to facilitate academic success, critical thinking, and therapeutic communication. The course introduces the concept of critical thinking and clinical judgement which is essential for nurses to provide safe and appropriate patient care. This course will allow students to explore, learn, and apply the thought process necessary to develop clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills necessary to make appropriate clinical judgments in future nursing courses. This course introduces students to methodologies that will prepare them for academic and professional success in the Century College Nursing program. ENGL 1020 or ENGL 1021 with a grade of C or higher or concurrently enrolled.
