ASEP 2554 - Electrical/Electronics Academy

Institution:
Dakota County Technical College
Subject:
Description:
This 5-day course consists of electrical basics including the use of a digital multimeter, electrical circuit types, electrical circuit components, electrical circuit faults, control module operation, serial data characteristics, effective navigation of GM Service Information and electrical connector service. Then we will cover GM's Global Electrical Systems diagnostics including the 5 circuits and their 9 functions, testing order and techniques. We will finish with applying this knowledge through on vehicle workstations related to Body electrical systems. The workstations are designed to provide practical situations that technicians may see in the field and are built with intrusive and non-intrusive exercises. Non-intrusive diagnostics can be performed without disconnecting connectors or probing circuits. Intrusive diagnostics involve disconnecting connectors and testing circuits using the digital multimeter, test adapters and other diagnostic tools. Exercises can include desk, bench, or on-vehicle activities that support learning through structured discovery.
