Introduces the roles and responsibilities of the cardiac sonographer as a member of the healthcare team. Patient management skills and interpersonal relationships of the imaging department will be discussed. Emphasizes embryology, normal anatomy, and physiology of the heart. Correlation of standard views and cross-sectional anatomy of the chest will be included. Introduces cardiovascular doppler and hemodynamics pertaining to the assessment of the cardiac system. Emphasizes standard views and image acquisition of the transthoracic exam through laboratory experiences while enhancing psychomotor skills.
