Description: The purpose of this course is to provide students with a substantial foundation in understanding of the Criminal Investigations field. Criminal Investigations presents the procedures, techniques, and applications of private and public investigations. Students will gain a detailed understanding of evidence, the strengths and weaknesses of the field, as well as opportunities and threats to conducting criminal investigations. Students will also review case studies to ensure the scholar grasps the objectives being reviewed and to enhance the learning environment. Within this course students will be familiarized with social theories that seek to provide a deeper understanding of criminals and crime, as an addition to the course's fundamental goals. We'll look at where we are now and where we might go in our attempts to enhance the Criminal Investigation field in the United States. Prerequisite: SOCL 227
