(3 credits)(Prereq: ARTS*208, THEA*149 or THEA*150, or permission of instructor) This course is an introduction to performance art through a visual arts lens. Students study ways the body is used as a material in art through the creation of individual and collaborative performance-based assignments. This course is experimental in nature and open to a range of interpretations of what is or could be "performance art". In addition to making performance art, students engage with texts, media and participate in class discussions to understand historical and contemporary perspectives on performance art.
