(Prerequisite: Completion of one 100-level HIST course) Money is misunderstood and its history even more so. Yet this is not because the subject has been ignored. Indeed, it has been subject to intense scrutiny by philosophers and economists, from ancient times to the present, above all during periods when relative peace and prosperity have given way to conflict and crisis of the sort we recently experienced in the first decade of the twenty-first century.
