Prerequisite(s): ARTH 2710 (ARTH 2720 recommended), ENGL 1010 or ENGH 1005, and University Advanced Standing. Focuses on the art and architecture of Ancient Greece and Greek-speaking areas, such as Asia Minor and Sicily, from the 8th century BCE to 31 BCE. Explores and interprets the influence of ancient Greeks on the classical culture as well as on the modern world. Analyzes art and architecture of the Archaic period, Classical period, and Hellenistic period in relation to styles, artistic schools, enigmas of connoisseurship, democracy and colonialism, and issues that pertain to the modern world, such as the repatriation of ancient artworks.
