Two credits for prior learning (CPL) may be earned if the student 1) passes the written test with a minimum 80%, 2) meets criteria 1 through 11 listed below, 3) completes criteria 12, a performance assessment of programming and machining a part. The student will demonstrate the following skills: 1._____ Pass a written test of G & M-code with 80% minimum. (1 attempt) 2._____ Power on a CNC Lathe and "Home" all axes. (1 attempt) 3._____ Navigate and explain the different screen pages of the control. (2 attempts) 4._____ Search for and Load a designated program from machine memory. (1 attempt) 5._____ Set-up and install a cutting Tool in the machine turret. (1 attempt) 6._____ Perform a manual face cutting operation. (1 attempt) 7._____ Enter a part Zero (G54) location in the work-offset page. (1 attempt) 8._____ Manual diameter cutting operation, and accurately measure the diameter. (2 attempts) 9._____ Perform Length and Diameter touch-off for a second lathe cutting tool. (1 attempt) 10._____ Adjust the Lathe Jaws for different size stock holding. (2 attempts) 11._____ Adjust the off-set of a tool to correct the size of a part. (2 attempts) 12._____ Given a part print, the student will write a program, set-up tools, and machine the project. The student will be responsible for the proper set-up and operation of a CNC Lathe and all cutting tools. The finished project must produce an accurate part according to print tolerances, and the student will inspect their own parts. The part will be submitted to the Faculty for inspection. (2 attempts) If the student is awarded 2 credits for prior learning there will still be a requirement for 2 credits of MACH 2638 to complete the CNC Machine Tool diploma. The CNC Machine Tool diploma requires the student to take MACH 2635 (4 credits) if the test out is failed. (Prerequisites: Mach 1601, 1605, 1610, 1615, 1625, 1630, 1641, & 1661 or equivalent. The student must have completed the machinist operator training program as outlined by the Fastenal Manufacturing Company.) (2 credits)
