This course simulates medical coding in the real world and is designed to give a full account of the healthcare code sets used within medical coding: Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Healthcare Common Procedural Coding System (HCPCS), International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM), and International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision, Procedure Coding System (ICD-10-PCS). Codes are presented along with an account of healthcare billing basics, as well as a description of the interconnectedness of medical coding and billing. Students gain knowledge in use of American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) VLab software, specifically 3M Coding and Reimbursement System. Career search and advanced coding certification research is also performed. Prerequisite(s): ADMM1151, ADMM1175
