This course provides an overview of development of children from conception through age eight, with emphasis in the following areas: physical, cognitive, language, creative, and social emotional development. It identifies the link between development and learning and the roles and responsibilities of parents, educators, and caregivers in creating developmentally appropriate learning experiences. It integrates theory with developmentally appropriate practice in home, center-based, and school settings. Prerequisites: None.
