This course is designed to provide a student with the basic understanding of how a microcontroller operates. The course begins with the history of the microcontroller followed by studying microcontroller block diagrams. The programming language used by the microcontroller will be studied and used in the class. Interfacing of external sensors and industrial controls that were studied in previous courses will be incorporated into the final class project. The course will be capped off with an overview of popular microcontrollers and how to select a microcontroller and development tools.
