This course provides beginning instruction in blood specimen collection skills and procedures. The course addresses safety, legal issues, customer service, professionalism, the circulatory system, equipment, venipuncture, skin puncture procedures, and specimen transport/processing. Emphasis is placed on attaining competency in safe blood specimen collection as well as on demonstration of effective communication and professional skills to perform blood collection procedures on all populations in a health care setting. Must earn a grade of "C" or better in this course to proceed in MDLT Major coursework. (Prerequisite: Enrollment in MDLT major courses) 1 C/0/1/0
