This course starts with the basic characteristics of DC motors and DC generators, the types, construction, principles of operation, installation, and maintenance, and formats of controls. Next the student will discover the common types of AC motors used today, the construction, principles of operation, installation and troubleshooting methods. Hands-on experiments using specialized test equipment and electrical meters will include energizing both DC motors and generators and also AC motor types under various load conditions.
