This course introduces the concepts of pharmaceuticals and dosage math. Included is information on pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, common adverse side effects, and contraindications to drug use. Emphasis is placed on drug classifications and safe administration of medications to patients across the life span. Dosage math includes information on the systems of measurement, conversions, solving for x, ratio and proportions, pediatric formulas, and IV drip rate problems. Must earn a grade of "C" or better in this course to proceed. (Prerequisite(s): HLTH 1310, HLTH 1410, BIOL 1730, ENGL 1711, and PSYC 1720 with a grade of "C" or better.
