This course is designed to introduce students to the field of medical laboratory science and the role of the Medical Laboratory Technician in healthcare. The history of the medical laboratory science profession, and its scope of practice including lab practice areas and personnel will be discussed. In addition, the course will cover educational requirements, employment opportunities, certification, licensure, regulation and professional and patient codes of ethics. Must earn a grade of "C" or better in this course to proceed in MDLT Major coursework. (Prerequisite(s):MDLT 1600 and CHEM 1711 "C" or better; BIOL 1730 "C" or better or concurrent enrollment) 1C/1/0/0
