This course focuses on children through early adulthood populations engaging in occupations in context. The role of occupational therapy within community systems is addressed. Emerging roles of occupational therapy assistants (OTA) in the community are explored as well as the roles of the OTA versus the role of the Occupational Therapist (OT). Students complete labs in community practice and are required to articulate the role of occupational therapy to individuals in the community settings Emphasis is placed on independent and active learning with focus on developing skills for lifelong learning. This course provides an opportunity to work collaboratively, inter-professionally and intra-professionally and to develop and enhance professionalism as a health professional. Prerequisites: OTAC1115
