This course provides a comprehensive and concise overview of the history and philosophy of fire prevention, the agencies and organization involved in the field today, and the regulatory aspects and functions associated with plan review, inspection, fire protection systems testing, and fire investigation. It also covers the elements of public education and community risk reduction, as well as the logistics of record keeping, staffing, and financial management. Students will also perform two separate 8 hour shifts of ride alongs with a career inspection and code enforcement professional. Prerequisites: None.
