This course provides instruction, demonstration, and practice in the theory, set-up, operation and maintenance of mechanical ventilators and related equipment. Topics include: mechanical ventilator theory for adults, ventilator operation, ventilator maintenance and trouble shooting, administration of specialty gases, airway management techniques, recognition of mechanisms of respiratory failure, and introduction of the application of evidence-based protocols to patient care.
