This course introduces students to dramatic literature. The course will cover the concepts of dramatic form and terminology necessary for thematic and literary analysis of the genre. Special emphasis will be given to drama in its historical, social, and cultural contexts. In order to understand this art form more fully, the class will study and discuss a sampling of plays that exemplify different kinds of dramatic structure and various time periods.
