Students investigate materials and techniques for creating meaningful expression in the visual arts. Theoretical topics include: developmental stages of children's art making, lesson planning, curriculum development, assessment, organizing museum/gallery experiences for children and integrating art into the elementary curriculum. Practical topics include classroom management strategies, social-emotional learning strategies, working with students with exceptionalities, culturally responsible teaching practices and working with modern day media.
