Description:
The first semester of a two-semester sequence focusing on mechanics. The course provides a calculus-based introduction to the laws of motion of Galileo and New-ton, the fundamentals of energy conservation, oscillatory motion, gravitation and orbital motion. 3 lecture hours and1 problem hour. Prerequisite or Co-requisite: MATH 129 or permission of the instructor. Co-requisite: PHYS 113L, 3 laboratory hours. Students who withdraw from PHYS 113 will automatically be removed from PHYS 113L unless permission to remain in the lab is granted by the laboratory instructor.
