MUSC 1426 History of American Popular Music (3L, 3CR) History of American Popular Music traces the roots of American popular music from its inception during the 16th century until the present day. The course will include a discussion of the genres of blues, jazz, and rock and how each of these grew from the musical tradition that preceded it. Additionally, the course will explore the unique geography and cultural influences that helped inspire each of the genres discussed in the course.
