BIOL 1009 is a course devoted to improving students' critical thinking, quantitative, reading, and writing skills as a corequisite to BIOL 1010. This course is intended to develop the logical skills necessary for success in the Natural Sciences. Key concepts may include: reading a science article, writing as a scientist, scientific math and statistics skills (including computation, unit conversion, concepts of probability and statistical significance, and significant digits), science study skills, the language of science, lab equipment and safety skills, lab note-taking and reading and following directions. This course is offered for S/U grade only. 1 hour lecture.
