The Latin Jazz Ensemble plays Latin-Jazz, Mambo, and Salsa music made popular by musicians such as Mario Bauza, Tito Puente, Chucho Valdes, and Eddie Palmieri. Members of this ensemble learn the fundamentals of playing in clav?s well as more advanced concepts of Latin music styles with an emphasis on strong rhythmic interpretation, performance practices, and improvisation. Membership is determined by auditions held at the beginning of the fall semester.
