Combines theoretical overview and practical experiences to provide the competencies needed for effective teaching of choral music. Opportunities to review vocal pedagogy and rehearsal techniques through performance, observation, demonstration, course readings, and classroom discussion. Emphasis is placed on planning, implementing, and assessing music lessons, with focus on effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Students required at least 10 hours of observation and pre-student teaching practice in grade 4-12 performance-based classroom settings.
