Develops knowledge of the relationship between management and labor in situations where the relationship is governed by a collective bargaining agreement and where it is not. Students learn about the development of unions, and legal obligations and best practices related to protected concerted activities, organizing campaigns, contract negotiations, impasse resolutions, and grievance procedures. Unionism in the United States and comparisons to other countries' systems are explored.
