The course draws on and synthesizes information from ecology, evolution, genetics, philosophy, economics, sociology, and political science. Emphasis is placed on developing strategies for preserving populations, species, biological communities, and ecosystems in the face of growing human populations and their impact on the environment. The course applies scientific principles and theory to address management strategies that preserve the richness of life on earth.
