Explores the methods, materials and concepts associated with painting based on direct observation. Students will study and apply design and perceptual strategies while painting from direct observation. Subject matter may include but will not be limited to still-life, landscape, and the human form. Goals include developing skills in representing light, form, and space. Contemporary and historical painting will serve as models for the course.
