This course focuses on criminal law as it applies to law enforcement and meets all learning objectives established by the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy for Basic Police Officer Training. Topics covered in this course include basic principles of substantive New Mexico criminal law including criminal procedures and laws of arrest, civil laws, liquor laws, Indian country law, juvenile law, hate crimes, elements of crimes against persons, property, public order, public morality, defenses to crimes, and parties to crime.
