LEA 1014 - Constitutional Policing for Law Enforcement

This course focuses on constitutional policing as it pertains to law enforcement and meets all learning objectives established by the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy for Basic Police Officer Training. Students will examine the constitutional laws and principles related to the investigation of crimes, including authority and jurisdiction, search and seizure, arrests, confessions, and pretrial processing of offenders. Students will learn about the individual rights found in the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution and the comparable provisions of the New Mexico Constitution.
