Required of students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Includes experimental design, methods of data collection, statistical concepts, probability, testing of hypotheses, graphing techniques, estimation, discrete and continuous distributions, chi-square tests, linear regression and correlation, analysis of variance, and parametric and nonparametric tests. Successful completers will be able to identify and apply the proper statistical test(s) in the analysis of given data sets. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Demonstrate the ability to reason scientifically. 2. Apply the scientific methods in problem solving and evaluating hypotheses. 3. Describe data numerically and graphically. 4. Apply the rules of probability to given situations or events. 5. Perform a variety of parametric and nonparametric tests. Prerequisites: MATH 1050, BIOL 3010, and BIOL 3030 (All grade C or higher).
